Valentine's day is almost here, and your beloved partner will no doubt love that same old card, that same old bunch of flowers, that same old box of chocolates and the same old meal in the same old restaurant, but how about thinking of something different to do for Valentine's this year? You don't have to go overboard (mind you, Scuba Diving might be fun), as there are a number of things you can enjoy together on a budget as well!
Above everything else, the activities you choose must be something that you will both enjoy. Think about the things that the two of you have discussed, activities and ambitions that have inspired phrases like 'Maybe one day we could...' or 'wouldn't it be fun if one day we...' Surely there are places you have always wanted to see, or things you have always wanted to do together.
Like sports? Maybe you could attend a game or sports event that you can both enjoy. What about movies? You could attend a screening at an art-house cinema instead of the usual Hollywood titles at your local multiplex. Make it special. Make it count! Concerts are a great idea for music lovers for Valentine's day gifts, and this is the perfect season to take in something classical, or maybe even a play! Check your local listings for what is available over the Valentine's period. There are shows on to match most tastes.
Something to bear in mind is that the Valentine's period is very busy at many places, and if you haven't been able to book in advance, you could maybe consider going on your chosen activity in the days that follow Valentine's Day itself. This means the crowds would be less heavy, and you stand a better chance of having an enjoyable day together.
Take in an exhibition at a museum or art gallery. Visit a zoo or animal sanctuary. Go for a walk somewhere that is special to your relationship (the place you met, perhaps?). Read to each other from a favourite book (it doesn't have to be poetry- it could be anything, but find something that fits your relationship in either a romantic or a humourous way).
Whatever you choose, make sure you can enjoy is as a couple.
If the two of you prefer the idea of a romantic evening in, there are various lovely things to share. Before you snuggle up you could enjoy a nice home-cooked meal, maybe enjoy a favourite film together, and so on. There are various lovely ideas you could try to make your night in more memorable. You could go over old photographs of cherished times you spent together. You could tell each other the story of your relationship from your differing viewpoints, you could plan for the future, or you could just pass that special time talking and enjoying each others' company. Make sure you enjoy your perfect Valentine's Day, and make sure you enjoy it together.
